All Crime Reports - A total of 288 crimes were recorded in the Sept. 16, 2007 to January 19, 2008 period. The breakdown by crime type is shown in the chart to the right.

Burglaries, theft from auto, and stolen autos were the more frequent crimes, accounting for 60% of reported crime. Burglaries range from 1 to 11 per week, theft from auto range from 1 to 9 per week, and stolen autos range from 0 to 5 per week.

Burglaries - Point of entry into the property is an important consideration from a home security standpoint. Of 46 burglaries with reported point of entry, 25 were through a door and 21 were through a window. Window entry occurred on basement, first and second floors. Similarly, door entry was through front, back and basement doors.

Only 6 of the 60 burglary reports include witness information, indicating that most of the burglaries were not witnessed.

Only 2 of the 60 burglary reports mention alarms. In one of these alarm reports, the alarm cable and phone wires were cut; however, two offenders were recorded on video.

Stolen Autos - Of 37 stolen autos included 2 cases where a family member of friend was involved and 5 cases where keys were left in the car.

The age of the stolen vehicle is interesting; of the 31 stolen vehicle that did not involve keys left in vehicle, 20 were older vehicles (1987 - 1999 model year), 11 were newer model years( 2000 - 2008).

Theft From Autos - Of 50 reported theft from auto incidents, 11 involved stolen vehicle tags, 6 involved theft from unlocked vehicles. Broken vehicle windows were reported in 24 cases.
